In September 2014, the Kove LED lighting system was presented with an IES Lighting Society Award of Excellence for Luminaire Design.

I was responsible for designing the first LED variant of one of Intralux's most successful product lines, the Kove pelmet lighting system.  

At the time Kove LED was in development, LED technology was understood to offer increased energy efficiency over traditional fluorescent and fillament based lamps. Compared to fluorescent tubes which emit omnidirectional light from a large source area in a smooth and distributed fashion, LEDs are small semiconductor light sources which exhibit very high output from an extremely small point source. In high-end market segments where precision, colour consistency and visual quality of light distribution are paramount, manipulating an LEDs intense raw output presents unique design engineering challenges.

I designed the initial Kove LED architecture, now named Kove LED Adjustable. It has since expanded into five product variants under three principal product configurations, each sharing the original optical package.
